I've been snowmobiling out in Montana for the past 4 years, and I have been lucky enought to be able to go to some remarkable places to ride. The one place that stood out to me was Cooke City.
Cooke City is about a 3 hour drive from Bozeman and is located in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, providing some of the best access to some of the best riding in the entire state. It offers a wide range of terrain, from goomed trails to DEEP powder, making it accessable to all riders. It has been some of the best riding I have done in my whole life, and if you are in for a little bit of a haul, it will be totally worth the time and effort.
Hope this can help narrow down some desions for you!
Welcome, Charlie! Happy to share some insights with you.
Some of the best places to ride that I have experienced have been Lolo Pass and Georgetown Lake. Lolo Pass is about a 40 minute drive outside of Missoula and is right on the Montana/Idaho boarder. It offers some great riding with everything from groomed trails to some of the best backcountry riding you can get in the state. Georgetown Lake is right outside the little town of Philipsburg. It's about a 1.5 hour drive from Missoula. It offers the same style riding, with lots of different groomed trails if your looking for a senic ride, to some of the steepest hillclimbs that are in that general area. Both spots I recomend highly if you are looking to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Hopes this can help you with making decisions on where to ride this winter!
